5 Things

1) You Get What You Pay For

There are many opportunities to try things for free. But ultimately, you get what you pay for.

A start to a list of things I will not attempt for free:

  • skydiving (remember, you get what you pay for)
  • olive-tasting class
  • chardonnay (ABC all the way!)

A start to a list of things I will attempt for free:

  • writing class
  • wine-tasting
  • a cool app to identify bugs
  • fitness class

2) #blacklivesmatter

Reminder to continue with the list below:

  • Donate to causes that need funding
  • Show up to a protest
  • Sign a petition
  • Use your vote
  • Show solidarity on social media
  • Get clued up about the anti-racist struggle
  • Support black creators and business owners
  • Keep reading, watching, listening and learning

3) The Washingtons

Because of pressure from sponsors, they have finally made the right decision to change nicknames and logos.

NEXT UP: Edmonton and Cleveland and Kansas City and Atlanta…and countless high schools, colleges and universities. Wouldn’t it be great if these changes were made without the threat of financial loss?

4) Green Onions

(preparing Pad Thai)

Step 4: Soften the white part of the green onions and save the green part for garnish.

Problem: At what point does the white part of the onion end and the green part begin? Is there a sharp divide or is it a gradual on-ramp? Are there really three parts?  The green, the white and the whitey-green?

What is not up for debate is that Green Onions is an outstanding song by Booker T and the MG’s, and also performed by the Blues Brothers.

5) Water Advisory

You heard it here first.

Brampton and Mississauga outdoor water advisory now in place. Reduce watering lawns, gardens and planters. Turn off automatic sprinklers. Help maintain our water supply.
