Steve worried where things stood with Adam.
Adam seemed similar to Steve’s previous boyfriend, an uncaring selfish disaster. Adam had a penchant for speed, action and kept his intimate feelings hidden. Steve was relaxed, enjoyed a slower pace and was nurturing. Steve preferred ferris wheels while Adam liked merry-go-rounds. They moved in different circles and friends whispered whether history was repeating.
But oh, they had fun. Their profile picture featured Adam with a snake draped around his neck with Steve looking suggestively at the Red Delicious apple in his hand: Adam and Steve.
Date night at Clash Park (motto ”Should You Stay or Should You Go”) paralleled their initial relationship: high excitement and headed in every direction. They played ring toss, ate more funnel cakes than they needed, and placed bets on the Hollywood Racing Pigs.

Fun, yes, but the whispers weren’t quieted in Steve’s head.
At Adam’s turn to select an activity he deferred to Steve who shouted “To the carousel!” While waiting they laughed and wondered whether they could stay on the ride for fourteen days and make it to the Guinness Book of Whirled Records. The ride began and circled faster and faster. Barely decipherable music blared. Less than a minute into the ride Steve’s funnel cakes paid a return visit into Adam’s lap.
Adam didn’t flinch. He simply held Steve for the rest of the ride, gently stroking his head. Steve had his answer. The whispers quieted. Adam really is a decent guy.
